Starting off: Why I love Cats

So I've always been a huge cat fan. Well, considering I didn't have a legit cat pet till I was 11 (My parents owned a cat till I was about 3, when we had to put her down, but I don't really remember her) I can't say I've always been a HUGE cat fan. I've never liked dogs, because they jump and slobber and rub there noses in my crotch and I don't appreciate an animal that does those sort of obsene actions. Before you start hating me, I don't HATE dogs, I just don't really like them. There is a dog living in my house, and I don't hate him, but I doubt you could really call him an actual dog. He's more of a dog-looking entity that wanders around our house only turning left. The dogs i've liked are Sheeba, Pete, Buttons, and Henry...probably one or two others, but I don't really remember. But anywho, in my opinion, cats>dogs. First off, cats don't smell (unless they're like Thomas or Fang and have tooth problems). Dogs just always smell. Second, cats don't need to be let out or walked or boarded. Dogs are needy. Cats are like, "I like you, and I appreciate the work you do for me, but I'm perfectly content laying around and having you pet me occationally." Super easy. People say that cats aren't as loving as dogs because dogs wait for you at the door, and are always happy to see you. Let me tell you: My cat sits and waits for me at the door. He then proceeds to meow at me until I pick him up, when he starts to purr because he's happy to see me. Henry, on the other hand, has no idea when anyone enters or leaves the home. Sure, some cats aren't friendly, but so are some dogs.

People have told me that not liking dogs because they are high maintence is a lazy man's accusation, and that children are also high maintence. To that I disagree. First off, cats do require care. I just don't have to wake up at 5 or 6 am to walk the dog or let it out. Instead, I get my cat running around my room knocking things over and walking over me so that I will get up and feed him. Still annoying, yet less cold and energy consuming. Also, who wants to pay for boarding if I leave, or require a friend to do a lot of work that they normally don't have to do? Cats require a friend to come over once or twice a day to make sure they're not dead, and that they have food and water. Done.
Now children, they are a lot of work. But they're also you're own species. I'm not raising Jaspurr to become a functioning member of society, nor do I expect or want him to carry on my family line. He can't talk, for goodness sakes. And when I do have kids, If I have 1 child, I don't want to technically have 2 because of the dog.

Ok, this is a long rant as to why I prefer cats, and has nothing to do with my actual cat. Don't you worry. I'll get to him.
